Rosalie....Somehow that name rang a bell. Alex smiled at Rosalie.
"Im Alex. Alex Banks." She said, and shook Rosalie's hand, immediataly dropping her hand to her side, shocked by the coldness of it.
Alex laughed.
"Heh! Where'd you come from, a freezer?" Alex joked, smiling, and didn't think anything of it.
People's hands got cold. That's all there was to it. Alex smiled at Rosalie.

Rosalie mentally cursed herself. She had forgotten about skin temperature.
"My mother likes to keep it cold in the house. She said it helps you live longer." She lied and shrugged.
"So, what is there to do around here, other than read?" She asked, she wasn't really interested, but she didn't feel like being rude. She shoved her hands in the pockets of her coat. Wishing now that someone from her family was in here. She'd even settle for Jacob being there. She just wanted someone she knew there.

Alex laughed. "Pft! My god, it's New York! What isn't there to do here?!?" She exclaimed, grinning.
She figured Rosalie was probably new to New York, and shouldn't have to miss out on all the great shops.
"Oh! I know this great place on Saks 5th Avenue that sells awesome clothes! My mom works there so she could probably give us a discount or something!" Alex said, realizing she was probably getting over excited.
Rosalie probably had better things to do than hangout with tiny sophomores like her. "Well, that is, if you wanna go." She said, calming down.

Shopping? That actually sounded fun!
"Yeah, that sounds great. I'll buy. I used to live in New York, but...." Her smile faded as she looked at the ground, then she looked back up at Alex. "It's been awhile." She concluded. She wanted to leave it at that, at least for now. It hurt telling people, it was like she was reliving it. She was grateful that she didn't have to explain to Esme, Carlisle, or Edward about it. And she left it up to everyone else to tell the others.

Alex suddenly felt compassionate for Rosalie as a distant and sad look came over her features. Alex smiled.
"Come on." She said, taking Rosalie by the elbow, since, her hands were in her pockets, and led her out of the shop.
Then she remembered her bag, and ran back in. "Bye, Leola!" She said, sliding her bag onto her shoulder and running back out to Rosalie.
"Follow me." Alex said grinning, and taking Rosalie's elbow again, then leading her towards Saks 5th Avenue, dodging through the crowd.
She could tell this was gonna be fun. Like shopping with family!

Rosalie followed, she felt a strange recognition to Alex. And strangly she felt like she was going shopping with Alice. Someone who wanted to show her everywhere. And only this time, she didn't have to pretend she hated every second of it. But she silently prayed that no one would see her here, she wasn't ashamed of Alex, more of her reputation. She said nothing as Alex pulled her through the crowd.

Alex led Rosalie all the way to her foster mom's little shop, Banks Boutique, and turned to her with a smile.
"Ok, I know this place isn't exactly Ambercrombie and Fitch, but, it's got some really really cool stuff inside!" She said, and silently prayed that Rosalie wouldn't tell anyone about her shopping here, mostly in fear of what would happen if Kira and her band of sluts found out.
She opened the door and walked in, seeing her foster mom behind the counter. "Hey Eli-um, mom!" Alex said, almost letting herself slip on that again.
"Um, mom, this is Rosalie. Rosalie, meet my mom." She said, giving her mom the usual "act like my mom" look.

Rosalie looked at the woman.
"Hello." She said. She didn't remove her hands from her pockets this time. She looked around the shop. "So, what do you sell here?" She asked. She was looking for some jewelry, and some new clothes. Alice would freak if she knew about Rosalie going shopping without her. She looked down at her feet, waiting for a response

Elizebeth smiled at her and Rosalie. "Hello, dear. Nice to meet you Rosalie." She said with that same, sweet maternal smile of hers that she'd always give Alex's friends.
"Well, I sell things that's you'd find in any other thrift shop! Used, un-wanted clothing that rich people give away so others can use them, instead of having them just sit in their closets forever." Elizebeth said with her signature smile.
"Like I said, it's no Ambercrombie and Fitch." Alex said, smiling at Rosalie. She felt like Rosalie was family already, and she'd just met her.

Rosalie smiled at Elizabeth. Another reason for Alice to kill her. The Cullens were used to designer clothes, not secondhand. But she decided she'd give this a try, mostly out of boredom.
"I'm gonna look around." She left Alex and Elizabeth to go looking around.

Alex smiled at Rosalie as she walked away to go look around, and she went over to Elizebeth.
"Hey, Elizebeth!" She said, hugging her. Elizebeth was giving her a look, and Alex sighed.
"Im gonna tell people, eventually!" Alex said, forgetting to lower her voice.
"Im just, im taking my time. Dropping a bomb like that on your friends after all these years, isn't exactly easy!" She said.
Alex hadn't even told her best friends that she wasn't really Elizebeth's daughter, that she was her foster daughter, but she planned on telling them soon.

Rosalie was looking at some dresses, and listening to what Elizabeth and Alex were saying. She shrugged. Someone else was adopted. Big deal. All the Cullens were adopted. She looked at a few dresses then grabbed a few. She took them to the counter, and then looked at Alex.
"You want to get anything?" She paid for her items then took the bag, and waited for Alex's response.

"Yeah, im just getting some shoes. My mom's just gonna take them home with her, so I don't have to haul them around." Alex said, smiling her signature smile.
Elizebeth rang up Rosalie's dresses, then handed them to her in a bag, smiling.
"So are you hungry?" Alex asked, and waited for Rosalie's answer. She was sort-of hungry herself, but was thinking more about Rosalie right now.

Rosalie looked at Alex.
"I'm on a special diet. But we can get you something to eat." Rosalie did not want to reveal her secrets.
"Where do you wanna go?"

Alex shrugged. "I don't know. There's a cafe a couple blocks away that serves really good salads, you wanna go there?" She asked.
Geeze, was everyone on diets now days? Alex was on a diet to lose some weight, of which she knew she didn't need to do but was still doing it anyways, Jess was on a diet too, and now Rosalie? Geeze! What, does the world think it's too fat?!?
Alex smiled at Rosalie, and examined her.
"You know, you really pretty slender, I don't see why you're on a diet!" She said as she waved goodbye to Elizebeth and led Rosalie out of Banks Boutique.
Alex actually thought that Rosalie was very pretty, and well built for a young woman.
But, somehow she couldn't help but think that Rosalie had had a pretty hard life, and was probably pushing herself on a bunch of things.
