"Maybe I need you around to slap me upside the head whenever I become a bit Eyore like." He grinned broadily, laughing. She laughed with him.
"Yeah, you need to be more Tigger," she joked and laughed again, returning to her sandwich.
"Gia, I -- nevermind." He shrugged and her brow furrowed.
"What's up? You know you can tell me anything."

He sighed, "No, never mind. I'll tell you at school tomorrow, after tonight with Leon" He stopped and looked up at her. Realizing that there could not be a tomorrow if Leon got his way.
"You know what? No. Not tomorrow, now. I want to do this right Gia, not like other girls. Because you aren't. You're not all over me, trying to get something. That's why I want to ask you.. um. Would you be my girlfriend?" It came out sounding very weak. "You can say absolutely not you selfish pig and I won't care." Which was a lie.

He sighed, "No, never mind. I'll tell you at school tomorrow, after tonight with Leon" He stopped and looked up at her.
"...Okay, if you're sure," she replied slowly. She gave a little smile to hide her confusion.
"You know what? No. Not tomorrow, now. I want to do this right, Gia, not like other girls. Because you aren't. You're not all over me, trying to get something. That's why I want to ask you...um..." Gia shook her head, trying to follow but still feeling lost. "Would you be my girlfriend?" He just blurted it out so suddenly that she sat there, flabbergasted. "You can say absolutely not you selfish pig and I won't care."
"N-No! No! It's not that! I-It's not that at all!" she rushed to assure him. "It's just, um..." She sighed and thought about it. She liked Robbie, she liked him a lot, but... "...Don't you think you're rushing things? I mean, with your mom and all, you're kind of stressed. I'm not saying no. I'm just saying...let me think about it, and ask again later. Okay?" He would never ask her again. "You ready to go?" she mumbled.

Robbie nodded, it was sudden. Even for him. But now he had to save face."I'm sorry. I haven't been thinking straight lately. I had like an hour of sleep last night. He laughed nervously. He had never been turned down. Never. And somehow that made him like Gia all the more.
"So can we just forget what I said?"

He laughed nervously and ask if they could just forget about it. "You don't have to do that," she told him seriously. "You don't have to play it off or entertain me or anthing. I told you, I'm not saying no. I'm just asking you to give yourself some time to get things straight. But, if you really want to forget it, that's fine, too."

Robbie shrugged, "Okay. Not no, just later. I understand." he gave a weak smile, that grew into a broader grin. "Well then I have something to look forward to."
"Okay enough mopey conversations, let's think of something cheery to talk about." He couldn't think of any though. Nothing at the Parthenon was cheery, or happy.

"Okay! Something cheery." She sat and thought for a moment, silence filling the table. "Um...I've got nothing," she admitted. She stared at him seriously for a moment before bursting into laughter. "Why don't we just go to the hospital, huh? I'd like to meet your mom."

Robbie laughed, "Neither do I. Nothing at the Parethon or New York in general is cheery." He shrugged, and finished his samwhich.
"I warn you though she's in a coma. And her head's shaved and she's got big nasty staples in her head. It's not a pretty sight to see. But thank you for agreeing to come, I really need a friend by my side."

Robbie laughed, "Neither do I. Nothing at the Parethon or New York in general is cheery."
"Got that right. This city is rotten," she mumbled. Then she looked at him and added, "Well, there are some good things."
"I warn you though she's in a coma. And her head's shaved and she's got big nasty staples in her head. It's not a pretty sight to see. But thank you for agreeing to come, I really need a friend by my side."
"That's what I'm here for, Robbie." As they left the cafe, she took his hand in hers and intertwined their fingers. "Don't worry about me. If it gets to be too much, I'll just leave the room." Honestly, it did worry her that seeing his mother would be too much. Logically speaking, coma was one step away from death and she had died. And woken up in a morgue. Hospitals had scared her ever since. Why did I agree to this again? she thought.

He took her hand glad that he had a true friend with him durring this. "You know some of the guys at school who I've known since pre k couldn't have been bothered to come tonight, and you barely know me." He smiled at her, admiring her. He wanted to be like her, she was kinder than he could ever be.

"I'm know, I'm awesome like that," she joked. "No offense," she continued, seriously, "this is just my opinion, but those don't sound like very good friends. Or friends at all, really," she replied honestly. She was shocked by that; how could someone call themself his friend when they wouldn't help him through this tough time? "A friend is someone who cares about you, accepts you -- flaws and all -- and they're someone whose supposed to be there for you no matter what."

Robbie got up onto his motorcylce, and helped Gia on. "I know they're asses. But when you've been like me, you don't really make many friends." He raised his eyebrows, and scrunched his lips up.
"You are pretty awesome." He laughed, but he was honest.

Robbie got up onto his motorcylce and was even a gentleman, helping her on. "Who says chivalry is dead?" she laughed.
"I know they're asses. But when you've been like me, you don't really make many friends."
"That why you're changing, Robbie," she reminded him. "Just stay the way you've been with me and you'll have nothing to worry about. You'll make new friends, real friends, in no time."
"You are pretty awesome." He laughed.
"I know, I know. It's a burden, but it's one I must bear," she replied, feigning an airy snobbish tone before laughing. "Come on, Robin Hood, let's go!"

Robbie laughed as she got on,"Momma trained me well." He reved up the engine of his bike, and took off down the road.
"Gia, if I'm Robin Hood you're gonna be my Marion." It took Robbie a moment to realize how cheesy that sounded. "That sounded cheesey." But he laughed it off.
As he stopped at a light, he put his hand over her hand, where she was holding on to him. He couldn't help himself.

"That sounded cheesey." He laughed and Gia couldn't help but shake her head.
"Yeah, it was. But it was sweet, too," she told him and kissed his cheek for good measure, to assure him that she didn't think he was stupid.
As they stopped at a light, he put a hand over hers and she shivered. His touch was welcomed, but it was also unwelcome. Laying her head down on his back, she closed her eyes and frowned. She liked Robbie, quite a bit, but she felt like she was leading him on at the same time. Leon, as well. The only person she ever truly loved was her mysterious angel, her savior. No one could ever take his place. Being with Robbie and Leon, it almost felt like she was betraying him. She shook her head again, so confused.
