.......................................
Ella sat cross legged on the middle of her bed, her bedroom was just off the pool, and she could see her family having fun, splashing around. Her cousins were visiting, plus her aunt and uncle, which meant six extra people in the house. It’s not like they didn’t have room, but Ella just wanted to be alone for a while, and they were making it kinda difficult. So she got up and grabbed her bag, in it her wallet and her notebook, plus she slung her guitar across her back.
She quietly slipped through her doorway and into a hallway leading to the five car garage, and grabbed her skateboard. Then she ran out the side door and into the oncoming darkness of night. Of course it wasn’t going to be dark to her, she could see ever stone and bump on the road ahead, but to any human, it would become an issue.
As she rolled down the street at top speed, she looked around to scope out the neighborhood. Everyone was getting home from work, or wherever, and getting ready to settle in for their nightly routines. So Ella was alone for the moment, blonde curls whipping behind her as she sailed toward her destination.
As Ella approached the oncoming intersection she leaned slightly to the left, the board beneath her turning, she continued her ride until she reached the edge of a forest. It ran behind her neighbors’ house and her own. Most of the forest was public property, but a certain section just behind her home, up until a river, was owned by her family. It stretched for about three kilometers before it hit the river, so in the river bed her father built Ella a tree house. It was decked out with electricity, furniture, a locking door, and pretty much anything else Ella wanted, and it was her escape when she needed to be alone.
Ella pushed off again, slowly this time, until she was parallel to where the tree house would be, and then she picked up her skateboard and pushed her way through the thick foliage. It would only take a few seconds for her to reach the tree house if she ran, but she decided to walk, making it take about ten minutes.
As Ella approached the tree house she slipped her hand into her bag and pulled out her keychain, her father was the one to suggest they install locks, just in case someone stumbled across her secret hide away. Only one part locked though, the one that actually had walls and a door, the other part was just a deck sort of thing.
After unlocking the door and putting her bag down on a near by table Ella pulled her guitar off her back, and then walked back out the door. The bridge to the other part of the tree house was a little rocky, but Ella could walk across it blindfolded thanks to not only her incredible vampire reflexes and sense of balance. Once she was safely on the other side she sat on the edge of the deck, resting her guitar in her lap. She lightly ran her fingers across the strings and as they hung in the air she opened her mouth and began to sing.
